Double Blind Professional Live Sound Console Listening Test--Please Respond by March 31

bailin.PNG

I’ve been working with one of our students, BaiLin He, on his senior “culmination” project comparing two mixers using the ABX double blind listening test method (something I did for star quad cables back in 2011).

If you have some time, please give him as much data as possible by taking the test by March 31. The test is available here: http://mixerabxtest.online

Come Help Me With My Entertainment Technology History Timeline at USITT 2019 in Louisville!

As I wrote before, for a sabbatical article I’m working on about the maturation of show technology and its impact on live performance, I’ve been working on a timeline that’s turned out to be kind of interesting. I’m presenting it at USITT 2019 Thursday, March 21, 2:45 PM - 4:00 PM. Please come out and give me some feedback!

In addition, on Friday, March 22, 1:00 PM - 2:45 PM, I’m on a panel talking about ESTA standards and how they can be used in the classroom.

Interviewed on DCSoundOp--Part 1 Available Now!

DCSoundOp does fantastic and very informative videos on a wide range of sound related topics—you should subscribe to the DCSoundOp Youtube channel which has nearly 10,000 subscribers. I was honored to do an interview with them and Part 1 is posted now (see below). It was a stream of consciousness conversation, covering networking, sound systems, education, and even tornadoes. It was a lot of fun for me, and you might even see a cameo by Popsicle kitteh around 22 minutes in.
