Kayaking From Jones Beach Across Long Beach Island

I continued making up what I missed during the first year of Sebago's "Around Long Island" paddle yesterday with John W.  We put in where we left off--Jones Beach Field 10, and paddled across to a friend's private yacht club about a mile from the Rockaway Inlet:

We decided to take a look up through Brosewere Bay and a nearby marsh on the way back, to make things a bit more interesting, and this put our total mileage at about 15 miles.

We were in this area when the earthquake took place, although we didn't feel anything. More photos here.

I've got one last segment to complete to catch up with the group, from the Rockaway Inlet back to Sebago.  I've paddled from the club out and around Breezy Point before, so really all that's left for me is a stretch along Rockaway.  It's on the ocean and is a pretty straightforward segment and the logistics are the easiest yet, but it's on hold for now with my classes starting, and hurricane Ilene looming offshore.
