Figure 53 QLab QClass

Last week I went to Baltimore and took the excellent two-day QLab “QClass”, put on by Figure 53, creators of the widely-used Audio/Video/Lighting/Show Control program QLab. I’ve been using QLab for many years but have never had the time to really get deep into it, and this two-day class was a great exploration of the product by QLab Product Manager (and long-time colleague); Sam Kusnetz; Figure 53’s founder Chris Ashworth was also in attendance. I took my shiny new M2 Mac Mini (my first-ever Apple computer) and worked along with the demonstrations, which I highly recommend.

The class was taught in The Voxel theater, which is a great, well equipped facility and perfect for this class. It’s also probably the only theater in the world with an OSC command on the wall of the restroom.

The class is no cost to attendees, and I definitely recommend this well-taught, extensive exploration of this incredibly powerful piece of software. Just be prepared to end each day drained from having your brain stuffed.
