15 Years of Blogging!

My calendar tells me that I launched this blog on February 18, 2008. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 15 years! In that time we’ve seen the rise of search engines and social media, and incredible development and eventual maturity of the industry of my main topic here: entertainment technology. I recently early retired after 24 years of full time teaching, and sold my Brooklyn apartment after 20+ years. But I’m still passionate about this industry and have a lot more I want to do, so I just did a big update on this blog, consolidated my photo portfolio here and have just started on a new book project (more to come soon).

I have kept this site running for 15 years (and through some horrendous transfers and data rot) because it’s sort of a personal, searchable archive for me, and so in many ways I’m always surprised that people actually read what I post. I often post traffic numbers here on the blog anniversary, and this year I have to post that in two parts because of Squarespace dead-ending support for V7.0, forcing me to move the entire site and transfer over 1000 blog entries to V7.1.

So here’s the traffic from February 2022 through the end of January 2023 when I transferred the site over:

And here’s the traffic so far this month:

blog traffic 2023

So, shockingly to me, that’s over 16,000 unique visitors (almost one Madison Square Garden). Many of them find one post, but I really appreciate those who get email updates or subscribe to the RSS feed.

Thanks to everyone who visits the site and I’m looking forward to an exciting year to come!
