Speaking at USITT

I’ll be presenting in person at my first conference since January 2020 at USITT in Baltimore next month! I’m doing a session based on Chapter 5 of my book, Introduction to Show Networking, describing my network system design process. It’s best for those who have some foundation in the basics (Chapters 1-4) but should also present some basics for anyone with some interest in networking.

Introduction to Show Networking System Design

Thursday, Mar 03, 2022 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM EST

Location: 316

Description

Based on John Huntington’s 2020 book Introduction to Show Networking, this talk details a methodical, step-by-step process for analyzing network needs and basic system design for systems like lighting, sound, video and even scenic automation. Topics covered include basic needs analysis, subnet structure, network topology, documentation, network verification, security, and reliability. The process is generally understandable by beginners, but those with a basic understanding of IP addresses and basic networking concepts will be able to understand the concepts at a deeper level.
