Sound for 2015 Tribeca Film Festival Drive In and YouTube Brandcast

For the 12th year I designed and aligned the sound system for the Tribeca Film Festival "Drive In", and it was a great series of shows this year, with great weather and good films.  I didn't shoot a lot of photos but here's a couple:

And here's my friend Amber Martin DJ'ing on the last night of the drive in:

More technical photos here.

While also tech'ing a show at school, I next headed over to the theater at Madison Square Garden for my third YouTube Brandcast.

The show went great, and Bruno Mars was the closer.  Here's a video I shot with my little camera.

Both these events were produced by the great folks at Good Sense and Company, with sound from One Dream Sound.  It was a pleasure working with both!

Sound For Tribeca Film Festival "Drive In" 2015

For the 12th (!) year, I'm designing the sound system for the free and always fun Tribeca Film Festival "Drive In".

This year, the films are Clue on Thursday April 16th, Lady and the Tramp on Friday April 17th, and the premiere of a new documentary A Faster Horse on the Ford Mustang on April 18th.

Click on any of the links above for details including location. I'm usually by the mix console during the shows, if you come, stop by and say hello!

More on past years here.

Tribeca Film Festival "Drive In" 2014 Wrapup

Well it was freezing (32 degrees at the start of load in) but everything went really well for this year's Tribeca Film Festival "Drive In", produced by my friends at Good Sense and Co.  For Mary Poppins and Splash the temperatures were in the 40's, but on Saturday we had a very nice day and got a great crowd for the premiere of the excellent documentary Next Goal Wins:

The speaker rig I designed was provided--as always--by One Dream Sound and the excellent crew of Leo (sound crew head), Neal and Bubbles once again did a great job and made the whole week fun. To cover the acoustically complex venue, which is surrounded entirely by hard reflective surfaces and skyscrapers, we used 63 Meyer Sound speakers, ranging from MILO's and M3D subs to MINA's and 500HP subs, and from UPQ's down to UPM's.

It's April, and that means it's time for my 11th (!) time designing the sound system for the Tribeca Film Festival (car-free) "Drive In".  This year, we start with Mary Poppins:

And then Splash:

And then we close with the premiere of Next Goal Wins:

Tribeca Film Festival Drive In 2013

We dodged the weather and had another excellent Tribeca Film Festival Drive In!  It was great working again with Good Sense and Co. and Local 1 and my old friends at One Dream sound.  I didn't take many pictures but here's a few, starting with the the star of last night's premiere of Lil Bub and Frienz:

Grumpy Cat is overseeing our console.

More photos here, including lots of sound geekery.
